I am having a featured artist show at Gallery North  ( NEW LOCATION: 401 Main St., Edmonds, WA) The show is called "In Our Backyard" because I am so delighted with all the wonderful painting subjects we can find in our own backyard - whether it be literally our yard or just the neighborhood or region we live in. In this show I continue my passion for crows, owls, and hummingbirds and branch out to Stellar Jays and Chickadees too.  I also have several of my tree paintings on display this month.  
I hope you will stop in and see my show this month, The gallery is open 7 days a week for 11-5pm and will be open from 5-8pm on April 17th for the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk.

Spotlight on Edmonds

In this video I am interview by Wayne Purser of Coldwell Banker Bain for his new Spotlight on Edmonds blog. This video was intended to give you a little information about Gallery North, my artist's reception this coming Sunday, the Edmonds Third Thursday, and a little bit about me and Two Crows Studio. "The Prize" was selected to be in the Edmonds Arts Festival Juried Exhibition June 14 - 16th.  This painting is of two fledgling crows and a cherry. 

In addition to the EAF show, I will be the featured artist at Gallery North for June 2013. In my show "Natural Connections" I will be showing my acrylic paintings of some of my favorite subjects. Of course there will be crows, owls, hummingbirds and trees and I hope to have some chickadees and maybe a woodpecker... we'll see depends on whether things go well in the studio this weekend.  I hang the show on May 31 and it is open June 1st through the 30th.  You are invited to my artist opening on June 9 from 1-4pm and/or join us for the festivities on June 20th for the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk.

New Year, New Work

It has been awhile since I posted, the new year is already rapidly passing and I am almost to a "significant" birthday.  Amazing how fast the years go... So for my first blog of 2013 I want to talk about my currect and upcoming show.

My show at the Matthew Robert Salon in Edmonds continues through the end of February.

My featured  show at Gallery North in April, "Natural Connections" will feature my favorite subjects - the subjects that help make me feel more connected to the natural world. Owls with their wild and secretive ways may only be occasionally spotted by me but their presence among us reminds me that we are part of the natural world. Hummingbirds with their tiny bodies and fierce hearts touch me and remind me how precious and fragile life is. Crows with their ability to adapt to their environment, often drastically changed by humans, gives me hope. The behavior of all of my bird subjects is a constant source of joy to me - joy that I try to convey paintings. It is my intention to spread joy and in doing so make the world a happier place to be.

Home for the Holidays

I am happy to be included in The Gallery at Town Center's "Home for the Holiday" art show and sale. There are dozens of artist-made gift items and an entire wall of paintings that are are smaller than 12' x 12" - a perfect place to do your holiday shopping.  I have my holiday cats card packs, and my 2013 Hummingbird, Crow, and Owl calendars there in addition to three small paintings. Hope you will stop by this holiday shopping season.

Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk

Thursday October 18th I will be showing some of my paintings and cards and 2013 calendars at Cline Jeweler's in downtown Edmonds. Here are just a few that will be there....

I also have work in Gallery North just around the corner on Main street.  I love to see a friendly face or two.  There are more than 25 businesses and galleries participating in this event - Art Walk is from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

In addition to dozens of new paintings, my 2013 Calendars are ready just in time for the Edmonds Art Studio Tour, September 15th and 16th, from 10-5 both days. Barn Owls Keep Popping Up

Barn owls, one of my favorite subjects, have appeared in two of my most recent painting.  The painting with the two fledgling barn owls is called "Spread Your Wings" as demonstrated by one of the owls.  The other painting "Outside of the Box" shows a fledgling barn owl venturing out of the nursery box. Owl eggs are laid one day apart, and they hatch one day apart. I imagined this owl as the first hatched and therefore the first to venture outside of the box. 

"Spread Your Wings" is on display this month at Gallery North in Edmonds. (508 Main Street)

"Outside of the Box" will be part of the ARTSplash show at ArtWorks in Edmonds, 2nd and Dayton (One block southeast of the ferry toll booth).

Show at C'est La Vie

My work will be featured at C'est La Vie for the Month of March. C'est La Vie is located at 320 5th Avenue (suite B) in Edmonds, WA. I have more than a dozen small paintings of hummingbirds and crows. On the night of the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk (March 15th)  there will be an artist's reception at C'est La Vie. It is open to the public, and during the event my 2012 Art Calendars (featuring Hummingbirds, Crows, and Owls and Trees) will be selling for only $15.00 (25% off regular price). They are available at both C'est La Vie and Gallery North in Edmonds.

Color, Light, and Laughter

I am currently looking out at the snow after a week of being sick with a virus. It has been lovely and cozy inside looking out at the snow-frosted trees sipping chicken broth, but now I am getting cabin fever or more specifically studio fever. I need to mush across the frozen tundra of my front yard and be with my paints and canvases. 

Last night's Edmonds Art Walk was cancelled and so we all missed the reception at Gallery North for "Color, Light, and Laughter."  The show is up until January 30th, so stop by and see it. Here are a few pieces I have at the gallery this month.

Successful Studio Tour

The 6th annual Edmonds Art Studio Tour is over for another year and it was a great success. We had 175 visitors in my studio this year. Several Paintings, calendars and cards found new homes and made room for me to create more.

Barn Owlets in Blue was sold to a couple celebrating their 17th anniversary.

During the tour I started painting Barn Owlet in Green and I completed it the following week. It will be at Gallery North in Edmonds for the month of October along with a "collection of owls" I have painted.  Stop in and see them this month along with the "Celebrating 50 Years of Gallery North" exhibit that features paintings by former Gallery North members.
